Bracknell Higashi Karate Club
Karate uses all parts of the body from the brain to the toes, at first it may appear tricky but as with everything in life practice improves us and you can pick it up. All you need is focus and concentration. Children from the age of 5 can join our club currently up to the age of 14yrs.
Training is every Wednesday starting promptly at 16:00 and ending at 17:30. The dojo location is The Parks community centre, Nicholson park, Bracknell RG12 9QN .

The sessions are pay as you train (£4) and all money goes into the club for hire costs, equipment and student courses/events. All sessions are taught in a relaxed atmosphere with plenty of variants to keep students engaged. To get settled and have enough fluid intake to get through the sessions it is advisable to get to the dojo at least 5 mins before the lesson.

We start each training session with a 10 minute warm up followed by either basics, kata, sparring, self defence techniques, fitness or even some thinking games to develop skill set. This will depend on what the instructor thinks is best to work on at the time. At the end of the session we will do a quick 6 minute cool down then leave the dojo promptly.

Gradings will vary depending on students abilities and training commitments, the instructor will say when students can grade. There are waiting times for different passes on your gradings which are set by Higashi these are based on training twice a week so may double in length for us as a club. The instructor will have the final say on gradings and time scales. A full guide to gradings can be found below.

We use Japanese commands when teaching karate, this is not to say you need to learn the language. You will pick it up over time just by hearing it over and over again. To learn in more depth or look up certain words see below.
